Hi, 8 months ago I had my prostate removed due to cancer. After the operation I was left with severe urinary incontinence and impotence problems.I made two month of classical Kegel exercise and 6 months ago I started using the rectal K-fit, however I do not see any improvement in urinary incontinence or impotence. I do the exercises once a day for 6 days a week, resting on Sunday( I combine several exercise including p04, p08 and continue). My question is: Should I continue using the K-fit or continue doing the classic kegel exercises. Is K-fit a substitute for classic Kegel exercises? Thank you.

Prostate removal is terribly invasive and frequently causes extremely disruptive side effects. Kegel exercise has been proven to alleviate the symptoms, but the extent of that relief is entirely dependent on the person suffering them and their situation. Scarring, age, weight, and specific symptoms are all unique to the individual. Just like getting washboard abs, it will take different amounts of time for different people, and it isn’t just about the exercise and commitment but about nutrition and where you are starting out. K-fit helps users perform strong and effective kegel contractions. Whether that exercise will affect your issues cannot be predicted, but kegel work is never a bad thing. You may also try manual kegels if you choose. Manual kegels tend to activate more external muscles surrounding the perineum which has its own benefits. I would also suggest speaking with your doctor or physical therapist about your alternatives. I know that some doctors send their patients out of the office with minimal support other than follow ups to ensure the cancer doesn’t come back, but there are many other resources that address quality of life issues. K-fit is absolutely causing pelvic floor contracts which has many health benefits. Whether your symptoms can be alleviated through kegel work is the real question.
